WORK HISTORY

Steve Werner has had solid experience with major gift fundraising, board and staff leadership, strategic planning, building effective partnerships, developing comprehensive marketing campaigns, and evaluating organizations to help them measure their impact, effectiveness, and risk management.

At the American Cancer Society, Steve Werner raised the largest individual donation through the ACS’s Excalibur Society. At CARE, he created the World Leadership Dinners which had every past U.S. president attending a dinner in their cities to help celebrate CARE’s 50th Anniversary. The event raised over $3.1 million in one evening. At Water For People, he helped increase the budget from $1.3 million to $5.3 million in five years so that WFP’s program could grow more than five-fold. Also, Werner helped create WASH partnerships such as WASH Advocates, Global Water Challenge, and Millennium Water Alliance. With Rotary, he helped create the State of the State Luncheon, Wasrag, the World Water Summits, the District Water Symposium and the Peaceful Schools Program. Werner has helped create and build many nonprofit organizations while serving on boards of directors.
